Hello hope you are all well and healthy at this time. Most of you know we have organizing this Peace and Dignity Journey for 1-1/2 year now and its been a hard road and little support on the fundraising and its even lost some momentum here and there. well thst has changed now we are energized and getting ready for Kiskeya PDJ 2012 on July 20-30th . When I visited Kiskeya in March and began the work on creating the Route for the PDJ route of the Redtail hawk I did not feel alone anymore. When visiting the places I went to I was very welcomed and the communities were all happy to here about the Run and the youth seemed like they all want to partake. I heard the elders speak of the need for awareness of the current situations in there villages and towns.when the staff was presented the people took pride in holding it and speaking out about the need for the Prayers for our Taino ancestors the youth and the Country.. I am sending this email to show the route that I have created with the help of our relatives and friends in Kiskeya.I will like to thank Lynne , Severino, Rannel, Glennis,Manuel and Jesus Guillen, Leonel, Lourdes , Juan Carlos, Manuel, and all others that helped me on the trip to plan the Route... I look forward very much to working with ALL OF YOU on this Caminata and to helping it make the press all over the country--it´s time for more than a handful of Dominicans on the island to begin taking pride in their Taíno ancestry, their Taíno heritage, not just those who live outside the country. 1) MARIEN{ July 20-21 } , the northwestern part of the island, most of which is today in Haiti { I need Mechis # } --Petroglyphs of the Río Chacuey, are among some of the finest in the country, although they are being ruined by idiots who carve their names over them. --Finca and fábrica de casabe run by Doña Mechi, in Los Piños (between Cacique and Monción). --Hike the Río Gurabo to the Charcos de los Indios, with its breathtakingly beautiful white marble waterfall en route, and then the three Charcos de los Indios with their precious little waterfall and crystalline green water, all seen against the stunning backdrop of the ruins of a 50-feet-high Giant Face of the Cemí de Cojoba caved into the towering cliff wall, which is the only piece of monumental architecture left by indigenous peoples in all the Caribbean. 2) MAGUA { July 22 } , the northeasternmost region, where the Ciboney and many Macorix peoples lived; --Taino archaeological exhibit at Santiago´s Centro Cultural Leon Jiménes. --Santo Cerro, where the very first major battle between Europeans and indigenous peoples of the Americas took place (see my research about this battle and the erroneous “history” that has been told about who won it) and the nearby ruins of the original Concepción de la Vega, with its Franciscan Monastery ruins and ancient Taino cemetery. 3) HIGUE Y { July 23-26 } , { the southeasternmost region, --Cueva Ni Rahú in La Piedra (half an hour north of Las Americas Airport), with its two subterranean pools, pictographs, and petroglyphs cultural heritage site managed by Centro Guanin, Inc. (Lynne and Severino´s non-profit NGO) dedicated to all the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, especially those of the Greater Antilles. --La Caleta, which was a prosperous Taino fishing village for several centuries and where a few of the many Taino burials are still en situ under a fallen thatched roof. --Tres Ojos, just east of Santo Domingo, --Cueva de Las Maravillas (with fabulous pictographs) --Hermanos Guillén Cerámica in Yamasá. --The Cave Complex of Pomier in San Cristobal (more than 50 caves!), especially cave #1 (the fertility cave) and the Cueva del Puente, which Domingo Abreu thinks may be ¨where the sun was born” according to Taino mythology. 4) MAGUANA { July 27th-28th }, the central region of the island that includes today´s Barahona, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, and San José de Ocoa: --Plaza Taína de San Juan (formerly called Corral de los Indios) and the Anacaona Stone. --Statues of Anacaona and Caonabó in San Juan proper, plus other artistic honors to the Taino peoples; meet the female mayor, who is very pro-Taino. --Azua and Viejo Azua; organize a game of batey/batú. 5) XARAGUA {July 29th }, --Circle Lago Enriquillo to see all the border region where Kacike Enriquillo held out from 1519-1534 --Las Caritas, the famous petroglyphs on high cliffs overlooking Lago Enriquillo --Statue of Enriquillo at Galván Thank You Roman Guaraguaorix Perez Kiskeya Run 2012 organizer

I would like to inform everyone that We need to CONTINUE TO raise funds to meet our goal. We plan on the kiskeya Run to be part of the bigger 2012 Peace and Dignity Run. The cost of Gasoline in the Caribbean is escalating as we write this. Gasoline,Travel and Lodging are the key factors for the fundraising of this run. Our goal: is to raise a minimum of $3,000- in order to meet our transportation needs in Kiskeya. We have collected through donations approximately $800. We would like to thank all of those who donated, and encourage you to PLEASE pass on this information. There is also a fundraising Tee Shirt see link below. We cannot do this alone. The organizers and runners appreciate your attention to this matter. We have several ways of fundraising, and will be posting it very soon. NOTE: the runners and organizers pay for their own airfare and lodging for the run. ANOTHER NOTE: THERE IS A CHANGE IN DATE will be (July 20th-30th 2012), THE RUN WILL STILL HAPPEN ....AS LONG AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER and continue to raise the funds needed Thank You Roman Guaraguaorix Kiskeya journey organizer
